Sonwater 2022
Tasting Notes
Sonwater 2022 was inspired by the famous 1960’s Lieberstein blend and consists of Chenin Blanc and Clairette Blanche. Contrary to its counterpart, Sonwater is not a semi-sweet wine and boast with fresh acidity and a pithy texture. Subtle aromatics of pear, peach, naartjie and herbs while the palate shows great fruit definition and poise - concentrated but not weighty.

Viticulture
This year the Chenin Blanc was sourced from a different old bush vine block than the previous vintage. The grapes come from the same farm as last year, just from a slightly younger block 1979.
We also ventured out of the Swartland to find a new source of Clairette Blanche. For the 2022 vintage grapes came from a block planted in 1984 on the Esperance farm just outside of Worcester.
